A huge thank you to all of the children, parents, friends, families and dogs who walked the 6 miles from Crooklets along the beach to Sandymouth and back over the cliff on Sunday. It was the Great Atlantic Walk organised by the Rotary Club and despite it being a blustery day, Marhamchurch managed to turn out a great group of walkers. Well done to Emily, Bailey, Mia, Lottie, Evie, Megan, Chloe, Isla & Teddy the dog.
“In the sponsored walk my family raised £20 for school and we walked from Crooklets to Sandymouth, then walked back to Crooklets.” By Emily
“Me and my family raised some money for school on the sponsored walk. On the way the sea came right up the shore and we had to climb over rocks. We stopped twice, once at Margaret’s Café and then at Sandymouth Café!” By Mia
SCHOOL COUNCIL – It was fantastic to see the number of children wanting to stand as class representatives this year and to hear of their ideas and reasons for standing. Elections took place this week and the following have been voted as class representatives; Charley & Corey B Class 2, Mia F & Stan Class 3, Isaac & Mia L Class 4 and Taryn & Charlie L Class 5. Pearl & Fin have also been elected to represent class 1 on the School Council and will later support the younger ones that are elected after half term. School Council is supported by Mrs Short and we are very grateful to her for all that she does in the background to ensure the children are able to make a difference. The first meeting will take place in the week of 8th October.
CELTIC CROSS FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT – On Wednesday of this week Mr White & Mr Hoare took two football teams to this years’ CCE Football Tournament. They travelled to St Tudy to play against other school in our MAT. All of the children played great football: our pink team (Albie, Kewben, Fin, Coco, Willow, Ben & Charlie M) came 3rd overall so Mr White was a very proud coach.
Mr Hoare’s team, in the Polmorla Pasties kit, also performed well against predominantly year 5/6 children. Well done Millie, Tierah, Rory, Gabe, Oliver & Charlie L.
“Charlie M scored five goals and I scored two goals. It was a really good tournament and I wish I was in year 5 so I can do it again next year.” By Albie
NORTH CORNWALL SCHOOLS X-COUNTRY – It was the first in a series of 3 cross-country races in Wadebridge this Thursday. The total scores across the 3 events will be totalled to see who qualifies for the Cornwall School Games in March. We turned out a team of 13 runners from year 3 to 6 (Taryn, Sophie G, Megan, Ben, Coco, Gabe, Albie, Kewben, Fin, Evie, Lauren, Maisy & Tierah). They had a tough 1.5 mile course through the secondary school playing fields, across farm land and along roads.
“We went around two farmer’s fields which were muddy, bumpy and full of stingers. We weren’t sure how to pace ourselves because we didn’t know the course. I got a 10th ticket but we’re waiting for the final positions.” By Maisy
“Everyone sprinted at the start but then got tired. There were so many hills!” By Evie & Taryn
PSFA GARDENING PARTY -A big thank you to all who attended or helped in any way at this event. We had a very enjoyable couple of hours weeding, planting bulbs, pulling out vegetables, sweeping up whilst eating pasties and sausage rolls! It looks amazing but there is still more to do and of course the upkeep of it all. We’ll let you know of the next date as soon as we have one!
Also a massive thank you to Nate’s grandma who very kindly donated her time, pots and plants to the front of the school. They look lovely.

There will be a retiring collection in aid of the School Council’s chosen charity this year and we will be collecting tins/jars/bottles or packets of food for Bude Food Bank which we hope will be well supported. Children will be dismissed from school straight after the service, about 2.15pm so please ensure you are outside school for 2.15pm, if you are unable to join us for the service, so that we can hand children over.
