ATTENDANCE – Class attendance for the year to the end of January is still really good with most classes above our 96% target, class 1 has dipped slightly and is just under 96%. Well done to Class 3 who have won the January class attendance competition with 97.02%.
CROSS COUNTRY – After three cancellations in the last fortnight we have finally received some great news for our cross country runners ….. Following the two qualifying rounds at Wadebridge School, five of our runners have been selected to compete in the East Cornwall round of the Cornwall School Games competition. Huge congratulations to Albie, Kewben, Maisie, Charlie M & Coco who will all race at the Royal Cornwall Showground next Wednesday. Watch this space for news on which of them qualify for the Cornwall School Games final in Newquay in March. Well done to all of our runners who took part in the first two rounds. We are waiting to hear the new date for the postponed St Petrocs running event.
ROBIN HOOD – The whole school thoroughly enjoyed a fantastic performance of Robin Hood on Tuesday 29th January.
“They said ‘Oh yes I am’ and we shouted ‘Oh no you’re not!’ My favourite song was Mr Tumble’s ‘Hello Hello’ from cebeebies.” Coby
“My favourite song was the Peppa Pig song – they bumped his nose!” Tommy
RHS ROSEMOOR TRIP – Class 1 and 2 enjoyed a super day at RHS Rosemoor on Thursday last week. Both classes enjoyed a workshop and everyone brought back pot planted up with cress seeds.
“We went outside in the big gardens. Fred had a green blanket put on him and we put water and soil on him because he was a seed. Maeva was a flower and the bee collected her pollen and then she turned into an apple.” Caelan & Maisy
BEAR HUNT EVENT – Class 1 had great fun at the Bear Hunt event at Budehaven on Monday. Thank you to all parents for transporting children to and from the event, a coach would have been quite costly so we really appreciate your help on these occasions.
“The bear did a funny dance.” Tommy
“I liked going in the cave but the bear wasn’t in there.” Coby
“I liked gong on the bouncy castle.” Cantika
CLASS 3 CAKE SALE – A vast assortment of tasty cakes and cookies were sold on Wednesday & Thursday after school for the class 3 cake sale. Many thanks to everyone who supported by baking and buying cakes, an amazing £143.00 has been raised for the class to spend!
ASPENS SELECT PARENTS MEETING – If your child has a school dinner you will need their code (please collect this from the office) so you can place a dinner order or pay online when the system goes live after half term. You will be able to place orders in advance or on the morning they would like dinner, so you will need to discuss what your child would like for their dinner before coming to school. Orders will go straight through to the kitchen so classes will only need to be checking which children will be having a packed lunch. The kitchens will only be cooking enough meals for those that have ordered so it is very important that you do order a meal online. Please speak to Mrs Cogdell in the office if you have any problems.
COMIC RELIEF RED NOSE DAY – We will be supporting Red Nose Day once again this year on Friday 15th March. As previously we would like to offer children the opportunity to purchase a Red Nose so an order form has already come home. If your child would like a Red Nose please return the completed order form with the relevant money by Friday 8th March to ensure a nose is reserved, noses cost £1.25 each. We may have some noses for sale on the day but cannot guarantee that there will be any left. Children can also join in the fundraising on the day by coming to school wearing pyjamas and slippers and making a donation (£1 is suggested).
