MARHAMCHURCH REVEL – The royalty this year were:
Page’s Lewis, Carn & Max
Flower Girl’s Heidi, Penny, Phoebe, Asha & Amelie
Maids Georgia, Jorja, Sophie, Evie, Maisy & Sofia
“This year we had to do the Revel Royalty differently because of Covid19. There is no Marhamchurch Revel in August so we did a parade n school instead. I was voted in by the children at school to be Queen. All of the other year 6’s were maids except Ben who was Marshall and played the bugle and Ruby who was Old Father Time and read the ceremonial speech. I dressed up in along pink & gold sequined dress with a cape that matched the roses in the Revel Queen crown. Ruby crowned me & class 2 did a M.A.R.H.A.M.C.H.U.R.C.H. poem performance. The rest of the school waved flags & banners. Class 1 left a trail of confetti rose petals for us to follow around the school in our procession. By Taryn
GOODBYE’S – We are very sad to be saying goodbye to Mrs Richards & Mrs Herzog. Although she has only been here for a short time, we will miss Mrs Richards as she leaves us to relocate. Mrs Henderson will be covering in class 1 fulltime in September until we are able to appoint a replacement for Mrs Richards, although we already have two possible, very strong, candidates. Mrs Herzog has been at Marhamchurch for 14 years, starting as a parent volunteer and then as our class 2 teaching assistant. She has given fantastic support to all of the children in class and the school as a whole. Her superb artistic talents have enabled our children and school to produce numerous wonderful nativities and other performances. She will be greatly missed by everyone and we wish her good luck for the future. Mr White and Mrs Rice will be covering in class 2 from September.
GARDENING CHALLENGE – To keep you busy during the holidays Mrs Kirby has dropped more tomato, pea and bedding plants at school (under the bike shelter). Please help yourselves & we might have a little competition to see who can grow the pod of peas with the most peas in it! Good luck everyone. Keep sending your photos in and remember there is still time to make a scarecrow.
MUSIC LESSONS IN SEPTEMBER – We are hoping that woodwind & guitar lessons will be able to resume in September, although they may be in a slightly different format to comply with Covid19 restrictions.
A huge thank you to Mr & Mrs Sobey for their donation of burgers & sausages for all the children & adults this week. All the children brought their own buns & enjoyed a burger or sausage which was cooked over a fire during their forest schools session.
